Driveway block paving

We need to get our driveway sorted this year and so have got 4 local companies in the quote us. I've had 2 quotes so far and they are a lot, although I know that most of the cost is in the groundwork as it all needs digging out and properly preparing.
I've not done this before so was wondering whether people thought these quotes were reasonable. We are in Yorkshire in case that makes any difference.
One quote is for £3250 for the basic 'bricks' and another is an 'estimate' of £3220, so they're pretty close.
We have an area of around 30 square meters.
Will update with the other 2 quotes as I get them in hopefully today.

We did an 90sq mt block paved drive a while back. £100 a meter seemed to be about the rate if you want it done properly.
We did also have a very kind gentleman knock on the door and offer to do it for £3k cash and he would do it the next day. Amazing thing was, he ended up doing about 15 drives along our street. They all looked pretty respectable when they were initially finished. Some even looked ok a couple of years on. But some of them, oh dear, they had sunk very badly.0 -
I've just had another one through for £2350 but he's not provided it very professionally and it was sent via his phone. They are a local company and I have seen previous work they have done but it's so far off the other 2 I don't know what to think!0

For every quote you get - Get them to specify the depth they dig out and the depth of each layer they put in.
My guess is they are not quoting for the same depths / materials.0 -
Thanks will clarify digging out depths etc.
Last quote came in just short of £3700 but with a winter incentive of £280 off, presumably if we have it done soon.
I have some questions and clarifications to ask them all but it's a lot of money and not sure how to decide to be honest!0 -
Hi, just out of interest what quote did you go for and did it all finish in budget? I own a small Landscape and building firm and I've found myself on this site trying to see if my prices are competitive. I'm based in Kent and I'm currently on a project 123m charging £70pm, there will be profit on the job but after reading these forums I think I'm quite under what the going rate is. Many thanks0
