1&1 "web hosting basic" question

Hi all,
it's a long shot, but maybe someone here recently signed up with 1&1 "basic web hosting".
I had the basic package until I took the offer for the unlimited package for the same price for 12 month.
I could have as many websites as I have domains or even subdomains in the basic package back then. I just needed to go the control panel and change the destination for the webspace.
Now I want to switch back to the basic package, but on their website it says now under "host multiple websites" 1. Also tech support told me that I can have only 1 website and couldn't answer further questions.
Now my question, is there really such an restriction, or do they just mean I can only have one of their "website builder" sites? It wouldn't really make sense to have only one website since the package includes 20 MySQL databases, 100 subdomains, etc. It also would mean that the control panel is different to the other packages.
Thanks for your help.

Thanks, but "Also tech support told me that I can have only 1 website and couldn't answer further questions."
The main reason I asked here was to find somebody who can confirm that you can only have one website. I don't trust what CS tells me on the phone in order to sell me a bigger package as I really need.
In the meantime a called them again and spoke to another guy. He told me that they discontinued the "old" basic package. I guess that was the reason why they offered people the "unlimited plus" at half price, to get people off the "basic" package in order to reduce the feature for new customers.
The guy offered me 2 month free for the "unlimited" package with a monthly rolling contract. That gives me at least some time to think about whether I'll stay with them or not and maybe to find another hosting company.0 -
You can only host one site.. so if you have 1site.com and 2site.com you can only have one of them.
I use 50webs it allows me upto 10 sites. Dont know how prices compare to 1&1 though.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -
Do they not use industry standard cPanel?0

It says on the 1and1 web site ( http://www.1and1.co.uk/hosting-linux?__lf=Static&linkOrigin=hosting&linkId=tariff-basic.featuretable#tariffs ) that with the "basic" package, you can only host a single website. It does seem a little strange that it would also allow five databases, true, but it's pretty clear that's what the package includes. Maybe they intend you to arrange different sites as subdomains rather than completely separately.0

Thanks. 50webs looks interesting. Do you know how much ssh access will cost? It says "optional" in some of the packages, but I can't find a price anywhere. Also, do the offer IMAP? They only say POP3 and SMTP.Do they not use industry standard cPanel?
No, they use something else (their own?).0 -
Firstly I would like to say dont fall into trap of unlimited hosting, as their is no such thing as unlimited space and bandwidth in hosting.. To verify as them is it possible to use 1TB space on basic package? you will get twisted answers. If you are looking for reliable hosting needs take a look at http://www.Thehostdir.com, got a list of some good host.
Thanks for the link.
I know that there is no such thing as "unlimited" ;-) First of all they have a quota of 262000 or so files. Or at least they had such a quota before. When I login now, the quota is set to 0 files and I'm well over that ;-)0
