Carers allowance-day care question

Hi, I am going to apply for carers allowance for my Mum with diagnosed Dementia. Is it in order for her to attend a day centre for three hours a couple of times a week. This is self funded and not through social services.

As long as you are still caring for at least 35 hours a week, you will be entitled to claim CA.

Mojisola is right - it is the caring for 35 hours which is the important bit and provided you are fulfilling this then the person you care for can do whatever they want however it is funded. For instance, I am carer for my child and she goes to school for 30 hours a week, and we also get 2 1/2 hours respite each week (via social services) but I still care for 35 hours + (well over 3 x that as it turns out when I do the sums lol).

as well as 35 hours of care you also need to be earning no more than £102 a week
