    You need to tell us how much the total cost of the property was?
    I think it was 2007 the total you could claim against was increased from £25k to £30k.
    So in 2004/5 if you paid more than £25k you would seem not to be covered.
  • Hi, It has been in dispute since about 2009, the company went pop in 2010. The director is being investigated.
    The total for the deposit was 27k

    Deposit /?? What was the total purchase price?
    If over £30k then you are not covered.

    .. although if the OP had taken a loan with the express intention of using it for the purchase, it would probably be covered under s 75A
