Its not advisable to run away from a debt as it does usually come back to bite you on the bum, so making arrangements to pay would be wise.

This was tried but was ignored
O2 closed the account and sold the debt to Wescot who within two or three months offered a settlement figure of £250. My son (stupidly!) did not make any payment to Wescot, and after returning to O2, the debt was then sold again to Lowell Financial.

But do you not thing that Lowells would have asked for the records when they purchased the debt?

This would show that he ignored the last offer
They also show that the previous DCA failed to get anything at all. So what makes them think demanding the whole amount will get anywhere this time?

Either way I don't think the DCA will care too much about what previous companies have tried. They'll just use their standard practices to try and get the money and if not, send it back to O2 again.

As long as they get more money than they paid for it they will be happy. The question really is how much money do they think they will be able to get. If they think they can score the full amount they will go for it. If not they will accept settlement.
