I'm feeling strangely 'flat' today :( Healthy £20k+ balance in the savings account. F&F letters typed, but not yet sent (manic family weekend meant I didn't have time to sort this, but they will go later today).

Funny day - can't really explain how I feel.

That Jan is exactly how I felt when I had my F&F fund ready to go and I think I am going to feel like that again shortly. I called it 'bitter sweet' in my thread.

For me it was 'with all of this money in my account, why did I get myself into a postion where I have to spend it all on that?' I don't think it is unusual.

Take heart......celebrate when the settlements are less than you forecasted.......when you have done it, on a nice bright day with glass of wine get out all of that grimy paperwork, look through it and celebrate that you have nothing to do with those b'stards anymore. That certainly worked for me and was the best money I have ever spent :)!! Hoping to do it again in a few months :) !!

Thank you Brogden - I've been feeling so flat I haven't even logged into my diary to read responses :( Thank you for popping in - I guess you are right and there is an element of 'with all this money' etc. etc.

Anyhow, I've shredded the first lot of F&F letters and have now written to all creditors with an equal offer - very low percentage and no realistic hope of having any of them accepted, but it's a starting point. Letters have stamps on and are going in the post tomorrow first thing.

    Definitely a bitter sweet feeling.

First letter refusing F&F offer. Came back with a 90% offer, i.e. settle at 90% of the debt.

They can wait the course of the DMP for now :)

Bad news but good news too Jan as from the unknown a picture starts to emerge as it pretty much did for me.

Whatever one predator says does not mean all will follow suit. They are all different. If you start to feel a bit frustrated at any time, concentrate on those which have been sold and lean heavily on those DCA's. They will all wheel and deal.......the banks won't do too much of that.....they will have a prescribed scale and formula put together by a very senior and technically minded numpty :rotfl: !!

You did right in starting low. Some may accept, some come back with a figure that is acceptable to them and some will just say no. Nothing is certain or written in stone. Everything will move and shift as the sands of time ;) !!All in it's all good :D!!

2nd rejection of F&F - this was to our largest debt. No counter offer from them :( Will let them stew for a few weeks before going back with a slightly higher offer.

I suppose as you get rejection letters you can then decide which ones you really want to get rid of and increase your offers to them. The one that said 90% can't really complain then, I imagine, as you gave them the same opportunity to come back with a more realistic offer. I think with what we will have available all of our initial offers will be very low but if some come back unenforceable it increases what we can offer others. Half of me wants to just pick three or four and offer 30% and hope they go for less than 50% but the rest of me realises they all have to get an offer. The fact that so many of them seem to be the same predator parent group doesn't help.

Rejection of F&F offers coming thick and fast now :( Oh well, it is what I was expecting....but it would have been nice if just one had accepted.

RBS outright refused the offer and made it clear the only settlement they would accept is the full outstanding balance - not negotiable. Oh well....they can wait nine years for their money then.

New job starts next week (officially it's Friday but I can see out this week with my old team before moving across to the new team). Fingers crossed it goes well.

    Happy Tuesday everyone :)
