Thanks Ploppy - we have decided to try a mobile mechanic as the quote is far cheaper than our usual garage. Will let you all know how we get on.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0

First direct debit taken by SC yesterday - it's official we are on a DMP to clear our debts
Still no response from Hellifax re the interest being charged on the reduced loan repayments. Also wrote to them as they accepted the proposed payment to clear the overdraft but will continue to charge £1 daily overdraft fee - at that rate it is going to take 38 years to clear the debtI've told them both they and we need to be realistic and admit now that our income is not going to change (we can't afford to play the lottery :rotfl:) and therefore requested they formally default our accounts now in order to freeze the debt at the current level. Let's see what they say to that one;)
Another good NSD for us  I have to say YNAB is amazing it really is focussing us on budgeting the money we have and I am so glad I found this piece of software at the start of our DMP.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
Actually, thinking about it, the Hellifax overdraft situation will be worse than I described in my post above.
Each month Hellifax are going to reduce the OD limit (they said so in their letter). That's fine - but they will then whack on daily OD fees and it will take the balance immediately over the OD limit each month - for which we will no doubt incur additional fees and charges. Ridiculous situation. Will have to wait and see if they respond to my latest letter.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

I've contacted them through the secure online message system - another game of wait and see what the response is:mad:
Edit: my payment to BC is 1.02% of the debt and DH's is 1.03%
Just copied from Mutual thread so that I can keep my diary up to date
Very down in the dumps day for me today - can't help myself. Hence not an NSD eitherI spent £2.75 and it was not well spent - or maybe it was depending on your point of view. I had a bacon and sausage roll for lunch. Enjoyed eating then felt guilty (not because of the weight, but because of the spend !!!)
Hey ho - tomorrow is another day and maybe I will wake up smiling.DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -
I am also feeling down about everything at the moment, must be something that happens at the beginning of a DMP:):) Mine is not helped by the fact that I have the dreaded cold back again and feeling quite sh** the last few days again.
I'm sure we will both be feeling better soon though.xThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Hellifax just phoned and offered me a private banking account:rotfl:
Private banking accounts are those where you usually have to have savings/investments etc over £100k and high income levels.
Er......no I'm not interested then;)
I politely explained to the lovely young lady on the phone that Hellifax had just accepted our DMP proposals from StepChange and she could'nt get off the phone quick enough :rotfl:DFW Nerd No. 1484 LBM 07/01/15 Debt was £95k  Now debt free and happy :j0 -

Morning all
Just popping my Nat West update (posted on the DMP mutual thread) here so that I can come back and track my progress if I need toJanuary2015 wrote: »Morning everyone - hope you are all well
No contact received from Nat West about the DMP, but the monthly statement dropped through the letterbox this morning and it shows 0% APR and zero charges - so I can only assume they have accepted the DMP offer and zeroed interest and charges
Good start to our weekend then
On another positive note - the ebay sales are going well. Not due to finish for a couple more days, but so far four items have achieved £140I know eBay and Paypal fees will eat into that but it's more than I would have had with those items cluttering up the cupboards in the house. I only got round to listing four items - I must be more disciplined and list some more this weekend.
Back to the saga of the car in limp mode; it's still not been repaired. The mechanic let us down (more than once). We now need to decide whether to just put it in the garage and pay the extortionate feesor seek out another mobile mechanic and get a quote. I've transferred some money from savings to cover the costs - just need the flipping thing to be fixed now. DH is borrowing my car whilst his is out of action and me - I am forced to use Shank's Pony for the foreseeable future. I need to look on this as a positive thing - it will be good for my health and weight loss goals (if I say it often enough I may start to believe it
)

Good luck with Fleabay....we still have a few things listed but only small value at the moment. I probably should list a few more things as well.
Hope the car gets sorted soon. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
