Long story involving Sky tv not cancelling our subscription when we moved and 5 months on, unbeknown to us, it's in the hands of Westcot debt collectors.

Affect - Definitely.
Some lenders will see that he has a default - it won't matter how much it was for, and they'll automatically assume you're a bad risk. You could try and appeal to Sky about it, but it'd be hopeful.Credit 'Score' - Don't buy the credit 'score' that Experian, Equifax and Noddle want to sell you. It's an arbitrary number that means nothing when it comes to applying for credit.
ALWAYS HAVE A DIRECT DEBIT SET UP FOR THE MINIMUM PAYMENT ON YOUR CREDIT CARDS, REGARDLESS OF WHETHER YOU PLAN TO LOGIN AND PAY EACH MONTH.0 -
A non payment can affect your chance of obtaining future credit yes.
