Ryanair's £10 Winter Flights Sale

Update 21 August 2007: Ryanair has extended this offer (again) until the end of Thursday 23 August. The information below has been updated to reflect this.

What's the deal?

No frills (and I mean no frills) budget airline Ryanair seems to be constantly selling seats to the majority of its destinations, including new flight routes, for just £10 each way; most importantly this INCLUDES taxes and charges, so a tenner is all you'll part with. Flights must be taken between 1 Oct '07 and 7 Feb '08 (excluding 18 Dec to 8 Jan, plus 19 Oct to 4 Nov if travelling to/from UK & Ireland) and you must book before Thurs 23 August to get them (although this deadline has been extended repeatedly for the last couple of months).

Speedily find the specific cheap flights

In a nutshell, use the FlightChecker, a special free, non-commercial tool I had built to find budget airline special offers. It works by you entering the maximum price you’re willing to pay before taxes and charges, the airports and date range and it finds the flights for you.

For this promotion specifically, select flights UNDER £1; in fact when the results appear you'll only want flights listed as costing £0.01. At that point visit Ryanair and check out the total price including charges.

The system is speedy, but it's not perfect, as there's no hard or fast rule with this promotion; some 1p flights will cost more but if you’re flexible with your dates and the airport you fly from, you’re likely to find a bargain within a few minutes, and it's much much quicker using the Flightchecker than not.

Which flights are available under this promotion?
  • Book before the end of Thurs 23 August.
  • Flights must depart between 1 Oct '07 & 7 Feb '08: excluding Fri & Sunday flights, and the entire period of 18 Dec to 8 Jan & 19 Oct to 4 Nov if travellling to/from UK or Ireland. All school breaks and major sporting event periods are excluded too.
  • Departs from: Aberdeen, Birmingham, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Bristol, Doncaster (Sheffield), Durham (Tees Valley), East Midlands, Edinburgh, Glasgow (Preswick), Inverness, Leeds Bradford, Liverpool John Lennon, London (Gatwick, Luton & Stansted), Manchester, Newcastle and Newquay.
  • Destinations include: Alicante, Barcelona, Carcassonne, Dublin, Eindhoven, Fuerteventura, Gothenburg City, Haugesund, Inverness, Jerez, Klagenfurt, London, Marrakesh, Nîmes, Oslo, Paris, Rome, Santiago de Compostela, Tenerife (South), Venice, Wroclaw, Zaragoza and many, many more.
The promotion details are listed here.

Ryanair charges you to check baggage in!

It’s £10 per item each way if you do it at the airport and £5 if you pre-book. So if possible take hand luggage only. Also, you’re charged handling fees for paying with a debit card (70p - except when using Electron, which is free) as well as credit cards (£2). This is per person, per flight.

I've found flights for when we need to travel but here's what i don't understand.

Why would i have to pay £7 for our 6 month old child? Does he really need adding in this deal? In other words is the £7 the usual amount when flights usually cost £60?

And is this deal of any use to us knowing how much luggage we will need to carry? (Pram, travelcot, clothes for baby + all the usual essentials).

As it is i have only been looking at driving over and use the ferry. Total cost of journey including petrol is £200 but we take the car filled up with all we need. That said i am happy for money to rule us here if the saving is significant. Whats peoples thoughts?

Well the item said if you find a £10 flight send reply so...Here you are..
I have just booked 7,...YES 7 return flights to Granada leaving london stansted on the 12th Nov 07 at 17.00 and returning on the 19th Nov 07 at 21.10, and the cost i hear you ask?? £00.14p... INC ALL CHARGES.
The only thing to be aware of is they charge you £10 for baggage (£5 each way) so if 2 are travelling only book one bag.. or travel light with hand luggage..And be carefull if you choose the NO BAG option you are automatically charged £2 for priority boarding you must un-click this..

    GOOD LUCK TO ALL

  • Am I the only one feeling a mixture of unease and laughter at the way that Ryanair have marketed this - look at their website main graphic -

    "Fly for £10
    Autumn Sale
    Get blown away".

Ok maybe I won't bother - Glasgow Airport anyone?

What are their marketing people on?

In the end it was too expensive! Would have got the cheap flight at £40, but had to get to Liverpool, another £491 for 12 days all inclusive, in the end came too £707 for 2, £353 each. If your next to the airport, and you have somewhere to stay, then it's great! probably go for a package from our local airport closer to the time, good exercise though, thanks alot everyone, kevin.
  • Hi
How do you get the Ryanair from £10 flights.
Have put dates in from nov 5th but when you choose a flight it adds on taxes etc making it come to around £450.00
    Any advice.

its now finished, you need to spend alot of time going through it all, but in the end makes sense, although their trick is to get you to go for a dearer flight, then add all the taxes, crafty b's, take in what I said below and act quicker next time, regards Kevin.
