I was looking at this the other day as I also live in Scotland. I think most of them are ok 'cause you can listen to the stations online or through a mobile app.

Specifically I was looking into the ITV comps, ie all the real deal links that get posted go to the ITV site and I was wondering if I had to enter via STV ... still not entirely sure on the answer to that one.

Many MSE compers have won prizes from media companies far away from their homes.

The majority of comps, radio or otherwise, are open UK wide. Some are geographically restricted to certain postcodes, or with radio comps to the official FM transmission area. Some comps have no restriction but the prizes must be collected, or they involve attendance at or transport from a particular location. Other comps are nominally UK wide but have delivery restrictions that disadvantage those in more remote parts of the UK.

One of the great things about this forum is that the posters will highlight any geographical restrictions if at all possible. If the original poster misses the restriction, a subsequent poster will highlight it. If a comp has been posted on here for more than an hour or two then generally speaking, any restrictions will have been highlighted.

STV, with there own comps, always state if a comp is UK wide or restricted to Scotland. The UK wide ITV comps can be entered on either ITV, STV or UTV irrespective of where you live.

With the Real Deal ones I'll generally go find the same comp on the STV site anyway, but sometimes there's comps on ITV that don't appear on the STV site, so I did wonder.

I was lucky enough to win £1000.00 on a radio comp a while ago but one thing to note is that many of the Radio Stations are in the Global Radio group and one of the conditions of entry into their competitions is:
2.4 You may not enter a Competition if you or any of your Family Members have won a Prize valued at £500 or greater within a period of six months prior to the closing date of the Competition.
    Read more at http://www.capitalfm.com/terms-conditions/competition/#168e2zairULRjM3j.99
So if like me you have won in the last 6 months you cannot win a prize until six months have passed.
Treat everyday as your last one on earth! and one day you will be right.

Same limit applies to Bauer Media which includes magazines like TAB, Bella, What's on TV, Empire, FHM etc, Radio including Absolute, Kerrang, Kiss, Magic and lots of local stations as well as the click2wins
Prize Limits. No person or persons at the same residential address may win more than one prize valued at £500 or more via any of our Competitions in any six (6) month period.

Although a small number of the click2wins have a FAQ that does not match their main T&Cs
Do you limit the number of contests I can win?
There is no limit to the amount of contests you can win.

and Celador radio still have the lowest limit I have seen as well as having the £500/6 month one
Celador Radio has the right to refuse qualification of entry to any competition, if the person/entrant has already won a competition on any Celador Radio station within the previous three months. A person may not win more than one prize valued at £50 or more within a three month period following the first win. A person/entrant may not win more than one prize vlaued at £500 or more within a six month period following the first win, nor shall any member of such person’s family residing at the same address (including, but not limited to, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandparents etc.). Celador Radio Limited reserves the right to withhold prizes from any such person, and to reclaim any such prize if a breach of this rule is subsequently discovered.

(The Breeze, Jack FM and Fire Radio)
  • My daughter has just got a job with a local radio station - great for her :) but not for me as I'm now excluded from all competitions within the Bauer Media group of which there are LOADS!!

Could be worse I suppose - she was being 'considered' for a job at ITV :rotfl:
