Laser or Inkjet?
Colour or Monochrome?
If a Monochrome Laser will do, then Ryman are doing a Samsung for £60.http://www.ryman.co.uk/samsung-xpress-m2022w-mono-laser-printer
Compatible cartridges from Amazon, for less than £21, including shipping.

If anyone could recommend one that's also a scanner and copier, I'd appreciate it. Doesn't have to be colour, I can live without that.
Been looking at the inkjet ones, but I can't seem to find out much information on which makes are most economical on replacement cartridges - had some very dodgy compatible cartridges so I prefer to get the branded ones. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -
If it's just for text and graphs (no photos) elsien, then I'd say go laser.
Very cheap to run (the Samsung I linked to above, does around 1,000 pages per cartridge), it'll be faster than an Inkjet, and the pages don't smudge if they get damp.0 -
Can you copy and scan on that one then? I couldn't work it out from the description. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.

I got a Cannon Pixma MG2400 from Argos for £30 and it does the job for me, can be set for black ink only, the scanner seems to be as good as any seperate scanner I have ever had.
If I had a complaint it would be the warning every time I am printing that it is set for black ink only, I can't find a way to turn that warning off :mad:0 -

Not that one (but I wouldn't expect it to at that price), but this one does.

I assume you have space problems , I would always buy a separate scanner and printer , simply because when one goes the other doesn't need to go to the tip, plus you can get better quality printers and scanners (at more cost of course) that way. My scanner is 10 years old going strong , printer lasted 2 years, the second one lasted 9 years until the heads went (a canon i965 and the quality at that age beat the pants of the current MFPs at the same price point) There are other makes available too and my opinion is just that:pIf anyone could recommend one that's also a scanner and copier, I'd appreciate it. I have got the Samsung M2070 which is the same as the one above but it also scans and copies.
I have only had it a couple of months and it's the first Laser printer I have bought.
Really impressed so far. I haven't missed the colour printing and I certainly will not miss the constant ink blockages that I had with numerous inkjet printers.
Looks like John Lewis are doing it for £69.99 with a two year guarantee.

The reviews on the John Lewis website would put me off but I would also look elsewhere because generally this model gets goods reviews.0 -

How about this laser one, for 90 quid?
