Car won't start after fuel filter replaced [Ford Focus mk1[51 plate] petrol 1.6L]

Any ideas what this problem could be?

Changed fuel filter, turned key to position 2 five times to build up pressure etc as it should... car has been turning over but won't start. Prior to changing it I removed the fuel pump fuse and turned again over to remove pressure from the system (as Haynes advises). The fuse is fine btw, i've since checked it so not a problem there.

After re-charging the battery and trying again, it would start by spraying easy start in the inlet manifold. Had somebody hold about 2500 revs and kept this up for a few minutes, but after a while it stopped again and just turns over now.

I've disconnect the exit pipe to check fuel has made it past the filter and this was fine.

Really don't know where to go from here? Worked fine before the new filter.

Thanks

In passenger side footwell behind the trim panel that starts where the door trim finishes, behind that trim is a fuel cut off switch, you might need someone to hold it in whilst you crank the car over, it cuts off if it thinks air is in the system.
Edit it could be the drivers side, check both, depends which factory it left.

Okay - it's on the drivers side. But is down as Haynes indicates it should be. No not that :(

Filter on the right way round ? they should have an arrow in and out.

I've just had a massive problem with my daughters focus with similar probs to you basically the fuel rail had no pressure after fitting a new fuel pump it transpired it wasn't the fuel pump after all as I had fuel spurting out the end of the pipe coming out the end of the pipe in the engine bay however the regulator on the end of the injector rail is controlled by vacumn this is made by the round unit bolted to the bulkhead on the left as you stand in front of the car the relay was at fault with mine which sits on top of this unit

When you turn the ignition on you should hear the fuel pump make a noise for a few secs as well

Forgot to remove the sealing bungs from the new filter?

Check for pressure at the fuel rail.

Did you fill new filter with fuel when fitting? Not sure if easy to do with Focus but I do that with my Golf.
