Can my energy company change my payment date?
As title really. I had an email from NPower over the weekend after we gave them a meter reading telling me what our new payment would be and that they have shifted our payment date from the 7th to the 9th of the month. We pay by monthly direct debit.
Are they allowed to do this without my consent?
Thanks

Yes. Their only obligation is to provide you with ten days notice of any alteration (of date not just amount.)0

Thank you. Is there a reason why they would do this? It's been the 7th for the 8 years I have been with them.0

Is this an ongoing change? Or a one off? The 7th next month is a Saturday and switching for next month only to the 9th (the Monday) seems logical.0

DD's often get changed if the payment date falls on a weekend/bank holiday. That's the nature of DD's.0
