When you switch bank accounts and your old bank account is closed how long should you keep your bank statements after the account is closed?

Is it best to keep them for 3/6 months? Or can you get rid of them straight away? Not sure what's best to do...

I have about 10/11 years worth of statements (HSBC) and about 2-3 years worth of savings account statements (HSBC) that i need to get rid of...

What's the best way to get rid of them? I have no shredder but do have a chiminea so can burn them when we use it in the summer... but dunno what's the best way to get rid of them safely

Not if you set fire to your or someone else's property or to yourself or another person in the process.

    Next question.
