Should I challenge my heating bill?
I live in a one bed flat and usually pay about £12.00 for my electric. I have checked my bank statement recently and see they have taken £28.00 out! :eek:
Should I challenge them on this, or should I switch? I am a priority customer because I am disabled with mild learning difficulties. I haven't got anyone to help me with their letters, because everyone I ask can't help or their too damned busy to take the time to sit down with me.
Can you please advise me on this ? I am in credit to both gas and electric.

If you're in credit, ring them up and say you do not agree to an increase in your direct debit. They are also supposed to give you 14 days notice that they are increasing DD amount. Watch the Martin Lewis show on ITV player 9th January episode all about your rights with energy coy's.0

Have they been given up to date readings? Without them only an estimate can be made.
£12?
A month?
If that's really £12 a month then I'd be seriously concerned about the arrears on the account! That covers standing charge and very little for electricity.
First thing to do is to contact the energy company and find out the last time they has an accurate reading - and provide them with one if necessary, then ask them to provide an up to date bill and see where you stand.0 -
Well it says on my bill that I am in credit. I will have to ring them up tomorrow as they are not open tonight.
I was in arrears on my gas bill but that has been sorted now. N power was suggested but I hear the customer service is not very good. got me real worried now

does the bill say estimate?Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

I can't see estimate on it anywhere. I hope they haven't messed my bill up because I find it tricky to understand.

There should be a letter at the end of the meter reading
A=Actual
E=Estimate
C=Customer0 -
I rang up this morning and spoke to a lady, the last bill they sent me got lost in the post in December due to Royal mail, there have been a number of items vanishing lately due to the back log. So I was in debt without realizing it.
I can't see any of those numbers of the bill with EDF so I did a switch comparison and saw that I would be paying less with Sainsbury's, has anyone used them please?0 -
Sainsburys its just British Gas .
Paying less as in lower standing charge or price per KwH .
Or just an estimated charge that may in practice be higher or lower depending upon your usage .0 -
Well I got told I would be paying less with them then EDF, also they do Nectar points which EDF don't.0
