I'd recommend spreadsheets every time. Apart from a C&G in the 90's which went so far as to train me to add up columns and calculate averages, I've learned everything else myself, by looking up info, asking questions and seeing how others set up their sheets.
Apps are very good, but subject to change and hidden formulae that may not do what you want, whereas the possibilities with a spreadsheet are far more flexible to your unique needs and easily transferable between devices and operating systems.
Repeated backups and printouts are also easier if you need them.***Mortgage Free Oct 2018 - Debt Free again (after detour) June 2022***

Thanks Brambleberry.
I agree that spreadsheets are much better for individual use. Time will tell, I am just starting mine up at the moment.0
