Damaged Luggage

I travelled with Iberia in the summer to Morocco. On our way back, not only was there a two day delay (story for another day), but upon arriving at Heathrow, a suitcase of mine was missing. It arrived 4 days later but with an awful smell. I had several items of clothing including some designer handbags that were ruined. Altogether the cost came to £650. This was including my handbags and my suitcase which was damaged.

Iberia has said that they don't compensate for these items. Does anyone have a similar experience or know whether this is the case? I would like to know wether this is worth pursuing or not.

Any light on my situation would be much appreciated!!

do you have an active PIR with Iberia for the damaged case? (usually it would be raised at the airport when the bag arrives damaged but as yours was delayed it should have been opened when you contacted them to report the damage)
did you speak to your travel insurance re a claim?

    How many designer handbags?
Can you prove you owned them?

Wonder if it is a one time poster?

How many handbags do people take on holiday?

Surely the one being carried is enough? :D

But I'm sure if she had put them in her luggage and she had them stolen and posted on here she would be courteous enough to come back and comment on the replies.:D
