CD Wow - Charged for using Credit Card

Has anyone else been charged a Cash Advance Fee when using the credit card on CD Wow? It went through using paynova which is apparently a "cash merchent" according to my card provider, so carries a cash advance fee per use.

It's never happened before, but it was only the other day when I did it, and it went through Paynova (which it hadn't done in the past) and I then looked at my credit card balance online and saw a Cash Advance Fee.

Not sure if this was a one off mistake or not as I haven't contacted CD Wow yet, but be aware as I never got any warning of the charge!

This bloomin' paynova thing has caused me loads of hassle. Noticed a 3p interest charge on my citibank visa card...now its a 1% cashback one so was a little surprised to see the interest being debited, albeit 3p.

I called citibank and they told me my £5.99 charge from paynova had been put through as a cash transaction and as such had converted my account to interest bearing...ultimately costing me a lot of money!

The only way around this has been to settle my account fully with a debit card - citibank have reversed interest up to now...about £1.68....telling me not to use my card for 2 working days to ensure all goes through smoothly. Seemed like the only way to break to interest charging cycle.

So buyers beware...CDWOW puts through credit card transactions via paynova and they in turn put the transaction through as cash...maybe some cards recognise it as purchase but not mine....
