black ink not working in HP 3070 printer/scanner

Yesterday I installed new black and colour ink in my printer. All the other colours are working fine but it won't print in black. I have tried all the realigning and print head cleaning options without success. I don't want to try them again because it uses up expensive ink. I also checked the ink level and that has registered the new unit.

I can't see anything visually wrong with the ink unit. Has anyone else had a similar problem and found a solution? Just want to ask before wasting money on testing another new refill or writing the printer off. I need black printing.

I have got HP 'official' ink units.

HP printer inks have chips on them. Does it recognise the black cartridge ? - it is possible that the chip has failed on it.
Normally the cleaning of the printer heads (via printer tools) normally sorts it out. If you have a receipt then you could try returning it. Otherwise you can swap the chips over (see youtube)
