Scottish Power refund
Hi I can't find the answer I am wanting.
I moved address and was owed money from Scottish Power for been in credit. The address I moved to is my partners home so I didn't need Scottish Power anymore so my account was closed. That was in Nov 2013 I still haven't had my money paid back to me that I'm owed.
They sent me a letter out in October 2014 stating they'd send me a check out within 7 days with the amount im owed.. it was lower than they originally said in statements. I still haven't received this check. I've phoned them up a lot of times and sent loads of emails, still haven't received anything and get fogged off like when I ring them they say they'd ring me back regarding this within 5 days but they don't. .
What shall I do? Take the letters to a solicitor. . Citizens advice etc..
Wouldn't mind if it wasn't a lot of money but it is to me anyway.

Write with pen and paper a letter headed Complaint .0

And if they still fail to pay I understand you can go to the energy ombudsman to escalate. Give them a date in the letter to reply by.0

Thanks. .
Just sent a message to !energy ombudsman website given them all details my account number etc with Scottish Power see if they can help.
I've written numerous letters of complaints to Scottish Power and email plus phone calls. Still haven't had any luck.. it would be a different story if I owed them money. . I would have been dragged through the courts, possibly had debt collecters etc at my door..0 -

Well, there's your answer - do unto them as they'd do unto you. Take them to the small claims court.
Perhaps if a few more people did that rather than letting stuff drag on for ages they'd sit up and take noticeNever under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0 -
Have you checked your bank account lately?
Scottish Power promised me a cheque too but in the event, they paid the £57.79 into my bank account.
This was in the last few days and the payout took only a week.
If writing to them fails, refer the matter to the energy ombudsman.
You may find some help in what to do in the Martin Lewis site (MSE).
If you need to phone for free, try 0800 073 3000 or 0800 027 0072 but you will have to go through options. Take nearest option to what you want and if none fits the bill, try staying silent until somebody speaks to you. I have had some success with this approach but also some frustration.0 -
Send a "letter before action" and give them a short period to pay up e.g. 21 days, then go through small claims. You need to know exactly what you are owed.Je suis sabot...0
