Increasing height of extension - mega job?

Looking at buying a house and across the back there is an odd sized extension of about 3m x 0.7m and a bit which is a bit wider of about 1.9m x 1.9m which is an outbuilding on the back of the kitchen.
Is it a mega job to make the extension "taller", so that the roof isnt as low and give us better clearance (and better options when knocking through from the kitchen into the outbuilding)?
By my reckoning you wouldn't necessarily need any new slate for it as it can rebuilt at the same pitch just at a higher level. The outside cavity walls will need to be built up with a few courses of brick to take it to a higher level. Theres probably lots more to it than that but just wondering if anyone can shed any light on it? And maybe also a *rough* estimate of how long this may take someone to do and how much it may cost?

That doesn't sound as if it's a big job to me.
Strip the tiles off; remove the roof joists then a bit of brickwork,
Replace your roof joists and tiles, or get new ones. Then inside replace the ceiling plasterboards.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,
What it may grow to in time, I know not what.

Thats what I was thinking (and hoping) but I thought there might be more to it.
I thought they would have to take off the current roof. Build up the brickwork by however many courses necessary, then refit the roof which i'm thinking may require a bit more work but not be anything major and redo the plasterboard ceiling like you say on the inside.
Does this sound right to people out there?0 -
Also, does anyone know roughly how much something like this might cost?0

Would raising the roof level take you outside permitted development rights / the pp which might have been granted for the extensions previously (whichever is relevant)?0

Doesn't sound like the OP is after a second floor, just an extra foot or two of head height in the existing single floor extension.0

True, but I believe there are e.g. max apex height limits for permitted development, or the pp may have stipulated max height - and adding 2' could breach that.
Just for OP to consider. It might not apply in this particular situation but would be expensive to remedy if enforced.0 -
I've had a read of permitted developments and the extension doesn't come anywhere near the floor sizes of what would require planning permission I think.
In terms of height - the front of the extension where the roof comes down and meets the extended wall is only around 2.4m high, the roofs pitch isn't too steep so i'd be very surprised if its much more than 30cm higher where the roof meets the wall and to the best of my understanding as long as it is under 4m it should be fine so I think there is plenty of space to play with.
Here's a pic for an idea.0
