 Why does my internet only work some of the time!? As you can tell from my title I am getting really fed up with it! If I switch it on in the morning the internet takes nearly half a day to let me go on it! although it says connected in livebox configuration. the pages alway say Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage
Even coming on here it just sometimes cuts me out! it is sooo irratating!
Why does this do this and what can I do (Apart from throw it out the window
cos I need it! )
I am with Orange, Invental livebox and it used to be ok!

Random disconnections are never good but usually easy to figure out where the problem lies. We first of all need to determine if its the orange livebox (which I am assuming is the router orange provide with their broadband, thus also assuming its an ADSL router with model in built).
Are you using the latest firmware version on your livebox? If not see if there's anyway to upgrade your firmware. It could be just a disconnection problem which is struggling to reconnect...
When the internet goes off, unplug your router completely.. then plug it back in.. wait a couple of mins (make tea ;p) see if it works. If it does great, if not (but still works some of the time), then that eliminates that.
To test the DNS servers, when your getting the internet explorer cannot daiply web page error do the following:
Start > run
Type cmd
Press return
type
ping 64.233.183.103
If you have a working connection you will see 4 replys. If not you will get 4 errors like request timed out. It could be your internet is working but can't contact your DNS servers (which can be overcome by using a manual server).
Finally, see if there are any logs on the livebox which would give information on why its disconnecting. I don't know much about the livebox itself but check the manual for its troubleshooting tips, or the online knowledgebase (link to it in manual most probs)
Hope that helps a bit[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I have the Inventel livebox through Orange too. The firmware version I am using (successfully and reliably) is v5.08.3-uk - you can see this on the update page in the router configuration menu.
If your version is less than this then click the submit button on that page.
If that doesn't help, post back and people will try and help you get it sorted!0
