  • I can completely appreciate your frustration, but if you've spoken to 3 people and they've all told you they can't say anything and to wait for contact, perhaps you should just sit tight and wait for contact?

If they suspect something untoward they may be very limited as to what they can say at the moment due to legal obligations (tipping off etc).

I do have my reasons for the repeat calls. I'm not being unreasonably impatient.

I called on the second occasion after I realised I was still able to use my card for some transactions. I thought that as it was working again maybe the issue was already resolved and they'd now be able to talk to me.

I called on the third occasion (this morning) because I had been told that the correct department would be in the office on Monday and if I called back I would be able to speak to someone.

If they could have just told me at the beginning "Sorry we haven't been able to deal with this by phone, you will need to wait for a letter/email next week" or "Sorry you will need to wait for a fraud department who will contact you on Monday" then that's fine. But they literally won't tell me when or what contact I am waiting for.

Also at no point has anyone apologised for the inconvenience this has caused. As soon as the flag comes up on their computer they speak to me like I'm a criminal.
  • Op, it sounds like your account is under going an American Express - financial review, Expect to show tax returns, wageslips etc.

Happened on an account I held for 3 years, with on time payments and a spend of over £20K p.a., the thing that flagged the machine was loads of credit applications on my credit report (my identity had been stolen at this point).

I ended up cancelling my account in the end. Best decision ever. After sending in my savings, my bank statements, Tax etc, the request for other credit card statements made me just want to leave it all.

I hold one again now though. I see Amex as crack, you can't live without one for too long.

Weird. I've lived most of my life without AMEX and all of my life without crack.

You need an AMEX and some crack.
  • I have no idea about credit card but I read your forum and discussion than got that many information. Thanks for sharing.

I don't think the garden wall actually is 6 feet high, is it?

You need Visa/Mastercard and some rehab.

This happened to me! It's why I stopped using my AMEX. I eventually got a call from somewhere that sounded American asking me to give all my personal details over the phone which I refused as they were asking all the questions we're told not to answer, then I eventually got a letter and I was able to use the card again. I had to wait for the letter.

This is why I have 2 credit cards and 2 debit cards, for when they get refused for fraud.
  • i had the same thing just happen, what happened in the end?
