PPM-strange debt deduction (BRITISH GAS)

STRANGE DEDUCTION ON OUR PPM GAS METER.

New gas meter was installed in Sept 2012. Every time we run out of gas we get the odd 1p or more taken from the amount we add onto the meter. It states it is for a debt. We do not owe a debt and have not done since 2005/6. British gas keep trying to tell us it is for the standing charge, but as I pointed out, it would be in multiples of 26p not a penny here or there. We do not use emergency credit these days either so it is not us paying that back. We've had 11p then a £1 a few times too.
I think engineer set meter up wrong in 2012.
What I want to know from the lovely posters on here is whether it is or has happened to anyone else with their PPM's. Could be the electric or gas meter. If you have had that problem what did you do to resolve it?
Also where is that deduction going to. BG say they do not have it and we do not owe them anything. It's a mystery.

I am pretty sure standing charge and debts are not collected by ppm once a day/week but multiple times per day so what BG is saying sounds correct to me.

Check your screens, Screen F for the weekly standing charge total. should be set at £1.82 a week for British Gas although sometimes I see a much lower figure of around £1.20. This may be a fault on the meter. Also insert key to see more screens, and go to screen S (debt owed ) and T (the debt repay rate ) just to check if you re paying the last occupiers debts
  • We've been living here for 22 years. Will get OH to check screen F for standing charge & S/T for debt/debt rate. So thanks for that info.
  • OH has popped card in & the only screens that come up: Credit loaded
followed by tariff, then debt & debt repayment amount. The last 2 being blank/zero. He had already done same while he was on the phone to BG last time. There aren't any others. Certainly no lettered ones, but the electric one has some, but not up to S or T. A mystery still.
  • Sorry , that info was for the electric meter, gas is screen 26/27 for debt info. press and hold red button till it beeps, then scroll though, i think card has to be inserted half way thro to see the later more private screens. I think standing charge is either screen 10 or 17
