I don't know why you can't set up a DD for the FlexAccount, but if all you want to do is switch the FlexAccount to Halifax, you don't need any DDs on it. The DDs are only needed on the Halifax if you want to receive the monthly fivers.

after your comment y'day I thought I would do it properly (and get the £5s.
Strange though - the Flex a/c IS a current account. I have successfully set up other ddms on the two Tesco a/cs. Why not with Nwide ?

Could be a problem with newer sort codes, and Tesco not having updated their tables. Or may be you just mistyped your data? I have DDs from a Tesco Internet Saver to a Nationwide FlexPlus which started its life as a FlexAccount. The sort code is 07-01-16. What is yours?

What happens when you type your information into this: http://www.postcodeanywhere.co.uk/demos/bank-validator/ - does it show a tick against Direct Debits?

As colsten said, you do not need any DD on the account you switch to Halifax. You can set up the DDs on your Halifax account.

tried again, all info as before, and now have 2 ddms, on 2 different Tesco a/c's to Nationwide.
Switch for Nwide account a/c to Halifax done (already have a/c there but I did the switch to make it "my main account".
The two new ddms should qualify me for the £5s (and the £750 in/out of couse.
When should I set this up ? Now or as soon as switch completed

When you say "when should I set this up?", what do you mean exactly? Do you mean make a pair of DD pulls to Tesco from Nationwide?

If so, you may find you haven't time before the account is switched (7-day switch vs 10-day first DD pull).

I wouldn't have bothered setting them up on Nationwide...I'd have set them up on Halifax at the same time you redesignated your existing account a Reward account.

Why not just cancel the Nationwide ones now, and just set them up on Halifax only?

Well you've just caused them twice as much work as was required! ;)
