Total waste?
I only became aware of it's presence due to a smoothie recipie requiring some as one of the ingredients.
It's not exactly cheap but is it a great secret or well known con?

It gets good reviews on bodybuilding websites. I think I may get some. Benefits are because you drink the leaf and the benefits of green tea are widely known.0

Green Tea has some benefits, particularly with regard to fat metabolism and anti oxidant levels but not especially with a brand or type? called Matcha. I did post a topic about this just before Christmas but it got no interest/replies.
Green Tea extract is not all that expensive, 200g of 40% EGCG for under £10. Dosage is around 600mg /day of a 40% concentration extract so it lasts quite well. Buying a whole tea brand name could be far more expensive.
I have learnt that it can affect/reduce iron absorption which might be worth being aware of.0 -
In my experience and understanding, most if not all food additions if they do work (and not all are proven to) will help in terms of losing weight or bettering health but will never be able to override a bad lifestyle or poor diet otherwise, i.e if you burn the candle at both ends, caffeine will help but wont override the fact your body lacks sleep. Similarly if you are eating too much of the wrong things, say for example sugar, eating loads of vegetables wont override that. If you are trying to lose weight, eating too much of anything cannot be overridden by eating or drinking products which claim to make you lose weight.
I know that's all pretty obvious to most but I was struck yesterday when standing behind a lady in a health food shop who was buying a load of "healthy" dark chocolate and "corn crisps" and said to her friend she was allowed to eat as many of these things as she liked because she was going to be having the "detox" tea every morning and it would mean she could eat whatever she wanted. I am not posting because I think you are this naïve OP, I'm posting because many more will read your post and the recommendations to continue with the powder and worry that like these ladies they will assume it works magic. No products can work magic, at best they'll take the edge off a diet which is already working.0 -

es I have seen vary to around £30 for 30g at using a gram a cup, but then there are the different grades, I could get away wih culinary grade for recipies, but the cermonial grades are most pricey and apparently more palatable for drinking, I'm going to start off trying the premium grade (compromise) at £10 for 40g, just trying to find one of those mini electric whisks for under a fiver.0 -
Well just a quick update for now, took the plunge and vested my £10 on some clearlight, just had a quick try of a cuppa and a smoothie
The cuppa...... well it was very green, tasted quite smooth to be fair.
The smoothie was blueberry plain youghurt and 3 cubes of ice, that tastes very nice.
Oh, I haven't notice myself dropping to trouser sizes or a ripped six torso just yet or leaps of energy.0 -

Caffeine with green tea does increase the effect which green tea usually contains. Salicylates can also increase the effect.0 -

Which GT did you choose?
This was 1/4 of a teaspoon
and then about 50ml of water
It does keep you awake but without the jitters of coffee or the bitter taste.
Will add some to some banana muffins later this evening.0 -
I got a 40% extract online. The place I purchased from was selling it at a discount but it was not until I received it and some other stuff that I found that the use by date on all of it was only about 4 months away. Not at all happy, they made no mention of it on their site. The use by date was end Dec and I am still using it because I have quite a lot left. Still £4.50 for 200g was not too bad a price. I'm using about 240mg x twice daily so at this rate it should last about 400 days and cost me about 1pence/day.
You do need to be careful because heat changes the polyphenols etc which can alter their effects and reduce the activity. I was using hot/boiling water to dissolve it until I read about it.
However I do take a few things for other reasons which could increase my fat burning and weight loss including Acetyl l carnitine and lugols iodine with co factors such as selenium and b vitamins.
I don't want anyone to think that Green Tea alone is working miracles, even though science has proven that it does do what is claimed. But it might not work miracles, just help things along a bit.0 -
A heads up
I have just come across ***this***, 500g of green tea 40% polyphenols for £10.19+delivery. I think their delivery prices are okay. They have some big discounts on ATM. It's not the place that sent me the short dated stock.0 -
