Hi,
My friend is emigrating to australia. in order to acquire points on the visa system, she needs to invest 100,000 australian dollars into an australian savings account (of the australian states choosing; so this is not flexible)
whats the best way she can get her money out of the british hsbc account into the australian account, getting absolutely the best exchange rate possible?
she is opening an hsbc account in oz so hsbc will transfer at 2.35 (this is when the current exchange rate was 2.37 on xe.com.)
is there a way to get the money over at the actual exchange rate?
Thanks

Interesting, are you saying that you can part 'buy' your way into Oz?
never knew that!
Anyway if I was moving large sums I'd shop around, never used H L for this service but it does seem comprehensive.

Basically the more money you've got the closer you'll get to the interbank spot or forward rate.
If the spot was 2.37 then 2c is 1% which looks good to me.
Just checked the spot earlier today and it was up at 2.3850If it takes a man a week to walk to walk a fortnight how long does it take a fly with tackity boots on to walk through a barrel of treacle?0
