Keep all doors windows locked, if have car hide it. Won't get them farDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

Only car i got is the father inlaws iv got his logbook
Unfortunately the v5/logbook is NOT proof of ownership it only state's who the current registered keeper is. You may have to provide a sale receipt of some sort in your father in law's name if it comes to it
personally id just park the car away from the house
You may want to come to some arrangement in paying the debt off at least. from a moral point of view you did rent the house out and stay in it without paying rent so in other word's you lived in the house for free and if the landlord had a mortgage on the property, then he has been paying the mortgage while you were in his property plus all the fee's he has accumulated in getting the court and sheriffs involved
But it's up to you make the ultimate decision“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. We want the biggest house, fanciest car, and we don't mind paying the sky high mortgage to put up that show. We sacrifice our biggest assets our health and time, We feel happy when we see people look up to us and see how successful we are”

You should run your whole situation past someone like National Debtline - details posted earlier.
As a non-property owner you may have a few options here but someone needs to look at the whole picture.0 -
Hi dmrjkr,
There has been some really useful information posted on this thread from other users, and
I would just like to add some extras to this to try and help you. Firstly, I agree with ratrace about the bailiffs and the vehicle.Unfortunately the v5/logbook is NOT proof of ownership it only state's who the current registered keeper is. You may have to provide a sale receipt of some sort in your father in law's name if it comes to it

This is good advice, if you can keep the car parked away from the property and on private land (such as a neighbours drive) that is even better as it will prevent the risk of clamping. It is also good to keep your home locked and secure, and not to let the bailiffs in (as stated by some other users as well). The bailiffs can only enter through a peaceable means, this means open or unlocked access or by an invitation. So if your home is locked and secure and you do not invite them in, they cannot come in. I understand that you don’t believe you have anything worth them taking, but it would be your responsibility to prove ownership of items within the property if they got inside, and if the bailiffs did find something to seize, they will add even more charges to the debt. It will be much less stressful, in the long run, to keep the bailiffs out altogether.
You have also mentioned that you do have other debts as well, so you will likely need full, impartial advice to look at your options on a whole. However, as far as the High Court Judgement is concerned you can make an application to the High Court to try and stop the bailiffs coming and to make an arrangement to pay the debt by instalments you can afford. This allows the court to step in and consider what you can afford to pay; it tends to be more reasonable than dealing with the bailiffs directly. The technical name for this application is a “Stay of Execution”. It is done on an N244 court form and it could cost up to £50 to submit. It is quite a technical application to complete but we do have a very detailed and helpful factsheet that you can read about this: - https://www.nationaldebtline.org/EW/factsheets/Pages/31 EW High Court enforcement/Default.aspx

I disagree yes there are landlords out there that take the p.... but one cannot tar everybody with the same brush
Some people out there are unable to get a mortgage due to a lack of deposit and other means so renting is a house or a flat untill one is able to get on the property ladder is a good option
If we didn't have any landlords we would have a lot of family's out there homeless with very young kids as the la's could not provide housing for every one hope this clarity's it a bit for you“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society. I agree the rent is higher, but lets be realistic they are running a business not a charity“People are caught up in an egotistic artificial rat race to display a false image to society.
