Citi Bank Credit card - Cardholder Repayment Protection

Received my DSAR from CitiFinancial re; platinum credit card taken out in 2003. received copies of statements and original application form, which includes a ticked box for "Cardholder Repayment Protection" which statements show I paid an average of £20 per month , is this the same as ppi? I cannot remember asking for this.
What do I do now??

the statements also shows numerous Late Charges and Overlimit Charges for £20 a time. Also, £5 charges for cash advances.
Many advice would be welcomed.

If you ticked the box (especially if it was online) then you'll have a hard case saying you didn't want it 12 years later.

Card charges from that far back the banks will reject especially as late/overlimit charges are your behaviour - cash advances are you taking cash off the credit card, not going to get those fees back

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

AKA take the bank to court and hope they give in or don't challenge and whoops I just spent more on legal bills than these old charges that came about through my own behaviour might ever bring in

  • I'm not so worried about the late fee charges as I understand they are my responsibility, but more concerned about this CRP and what my course of action is now. Thanks for all your advice so far.

    Your comments are ridiculous !

What bank has defended these charges in Court ? None
What bank would allow these charges to be scrutinized in Court - None
Small Claims Court - What legal bills ???

You provided ONE single example of someone who took the bank to court and got lucky the bank did not defend the claim. The MSE site guide specifically says several banks used the 2009 case to get credit card claims off the hook too.

As with all of your nonsense posts, if you believe the poster has a 100% success guaranteed, put up your own money to cover their costs or quit telling people to risk court action. The claims court does have costs as the guide states - you need to win to get them back.

In addition, the case at the OFT was that charges of £30-£35 were unfair and did not reflect the cost to the business, their guide is now £12

People do not get lucky taking Banks /Credit Card Companies to Court.
I can show you many examples of LIP taking court action and winning.
Indeed i can show you my two examples of winning with Barclaycard.
and that is for the £12.00 charges.

And i ask you again :-

What Bank/Credit Card Co have defended in Court ????
What Bank has allowed these charges to be scrutinized in Court??
Stop talking rubbish defending Banks/Credit Card Companies and get
a reality check - these charges for over credit limit/ late payments are recoverable and with restitutional rates of interest.
  • not sure of my next steps, do I send that form to citizens? Do I ask highlight the cardholder repayment protection and charges all together or separate? What do I state on letter?
I have no experience of any of this? Is there any sample letters I could use to help me? Any advice welcome.
