halfords xmas sale ? 3 weeks later canceled order

i took advantage of the halfords xmas sale and ordered 3 cans of oil for delivery

3 weeks later they email me to say theyve completley ran out and wont be getting anymore in stock

is it me or is this a bit fishy maybe thier way of getting out of the good price offered up

should they advertise goods and take my money for goods they dont have

They had loads in the stores on Boxing Day, I bought 2 cans.

They shouldn't let you order & pay for stock they don't have, you'd have thought that in the 21st Century "The Computer" would know how many they have, and not sell more, but it is just tough luck, and they will refund your money.

Keep an eye out, it will be on offer again for Easter.

Home delivery will come from a warehouse - the warehouse probably is out of stock, and likely won't bother shipping stuff back from a store to the warehouse. You could always phone them up and ask that if you can find the oil in a store, if they'll honour the money you've already paid.

yeah i could ring ,tbh i'll just go elsewhere

id have thought a decent well know store would have offered an alternative or the option to collect in store to make things right but no , and i dont believe for a minute such a large operation would be out of stock for over 3 weeks on such a common item

live and learn - had the same last year in thier sale i reserved a hose pipe and then no stock once im at the store 2 hours later
