UKPC parking charge

:DYesterday I was given a parking charge in a retail private car park outside Lidl in a local town. I was parked in a parent and toddler space with a disabled badge. I thought it was a disabled space as it was chevroned out with yellow lines like a normal disabled space. Do I ignore the charge as I am led to believe it's an invoice and UKPC have no legal merit when it comes to enforcing the charge or do I still have to appeal? If so who do I appeal to?
