  • In the coming year I can't see I'd be able to fill two but here is hoping!

Let's just hope he gets the current account to start with - did anyone else not get it set up instantly online?
2024 - happy, healthy, quality over quantity, buy nothing new (and 2nd hand only if NEEDED), mindful spending, nurturing myself and family, living for now.

Mortgage @ 31/12/23 £248k - too high, interest rate gone up - want this down asap!
    Debt @ 31/12/23 £16k - no interest - will clear over 5 years hopefully.
Emergency savings £4k - been ransacked over last year - needs attention :-(

I applied for a 1st account a few weeks ago and got declined, so I opened one with HSBC which was accepted.

I have a few credit searches (11) on my file which was likely to be the problem, as I have no missed payments/defaults etc. First direct are quite strict so a referred application is not surprising. :)
  • Thanks TheEffect - my husband hasn't applied for anything since our mortgage in 2012 and neither have I. With the exception of maybe one mobile phone upgrade.

Did try and phone but was on hold so shall wait to hear from them.
