Quiet is one thing, but you would be hard-pressed to find something silent.

Touch or gesture-based input devices would be quieter still.

Not 'silent' since "Innovative silent switch to reduce 90% mouse click voice"

    http://www.amazon.com/Bornd-Ultra-Silent-Wireless-Optical-Mouse/dp/B00E0O2VUO#customerReviews

One single review on this one also mentions "When we first got this it was quiet and that's what we bought it for. After a couple of weeks use it now makes noise when it is clicked so the quiet didn't last long. It works fine but if quiet is what you what it is a waste of money."

Reviews on another colour are a bit more positive.

    What is your set-up btw?

    Ok

It's an in-house radio studio so need the mouse (and ideally the keyboard) to be silent otherwise you here the lick live on-air! Gesture/touch based stuff is not reliable IMHO

I would really rate highly a large touchpad (like a laptop's) to replace a mouse. It would almost certainly be quieter than one.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Logitech-T650-Wireless-Rechargeable-Touchpad/dp/B00969DLL6/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1420809507&sr=1-1&keywords=Logitech+T650

Obviously it's personal preference and it is different to what you'd want, but for that sort of set-up it would be fine, and current generation connectivity and lag-wise are good. If you were doing gaming or a few other fields, I might suggest otherwise.

And I haven't tried them but since you aren't gaming, many people rate rubber, flexible keyboards for their quietness. They don't have the components that cause much of the keystroke noise and might be worth a consider.

If your mic is picking up mouse clicking, then your using the wrong equipment.

I have two mics, first one for ingame voice coms, second one for voice chat servers (Teamspeak/Ventrilo).

The little boom mic (which is actually a lapel mic clipped to a stand), this only picks up sound within a distance of a few inches, too close it clips and distorts, too far and you get nothing.

The webcam mic is across the room (at least 2m away), and it picks up EVERYTHING in the room, near or far. Which can be a pain if someone else is open mic, because it can cause a nasty feedback loop if they're using voice activation.

So I think what you need is something more directional, something that needs you to get up close and doesn't pick up everything in the room.

The mic is on hanging from a swing arm and is as professional Rode mic for radio use. It will pick up most things naturally, hence the need for a silent mouse/keyboard.

But, there's still something wrong..... It shouldn't be picking up a mouse click from half a meter away. Not unless it's a monstrously loud mouse :o

You could perhaps use a smart phone as a bluetooth mouse, there are apps to let you do this.

Do you have acoustic tiles and sound deadening?
I installed some last year and it was sooooo creepy how certain noises almost disappeared (like keyboard tapping), things sound so very different when there's no echo in the room.

    It's not half a metre away really...maybe 12-15"

I'm in a temporary space as its a mobile gig so no possibility of acoustic deadening...

If it is a proper vocal proximity mic it still shouldn't hear a mouse click.

Keyboard perhaps, depending on how noisy.

Can you work it closer and reduce the gain?
