I've never been a massive fan of potato bread. I like my fry to have 2 sausages, 2 rashers of bacon, scrambled egg, beans and mushrooms.0 -
What should an Ulster fry contain and how does it differ from an English fry?
Bacon, sausage, fried egg(s), minced beef patty, potato bread, soda bread, black and/or white pudding and mushrooms. According to the world's expert on the Ulster Fry (my Granny) An Ulster Fry should be dry, thats what large mugs of tea where invented for
Under no circumstances should baked beans or tinned tomatoes come near the plate, thats an English Breakfast. Fresh tomatoes grilled are acceptable if in season.
Oh, and hash browns and fried pancakes are an American import and again shouldn't be allowed on the plate eitherShame because I love a good fried pancake with my fry.
I am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -

Nahhh it's a Derry thing I think, we have a company called Doherty's which makes various varieties of mince, the Doherty's Special Mince sticks together (massive fat content me thinks, but tastes great) and gets rolled into smallish balls and then flattened and fried as part of an Ulster Fry. Really worth a try if you get your hands on a pack
Has everyone forgotten the main ingredient in a fry ? HP sauceI am trying, honest;) very trying according to my dear OH:rotfl:0 -
So many people think they like Ulster Frys. Ulster Fry must contain black and white pudding (you can argue about the beans etc), so if you don't like them, you don't like the real Ulster Fry!0
