Slightly threatening language on Experian email

Hi all
I used to subscribe to Experian's Credit Expert service because of a dodgy tenant at my address, who I was worried might be messing up my credit rating. Recently, I let this lapse - partly because I no longer needed the service and partly because my payment card had expired and I didn't bother to renew it.
Today I got an email from Experian which seemed to be worded in such a way as to suggest I had done something wrong for letting this happen, and that I 'owe' them. Reading between the lines I think it's just hard-sell marketing, but I wanted to run it by you guys to be sure.
The subject header was 'Payment of your membership fees is overdue' and the email itself says in red bold type: "You owe 2 months of membership fees and your payment details are incorrect." It then goes on to say they will continue to attempt to take payment, similar to the tone of an unpaid bill.
I'm a bit surprised by this as I see Experian as a reputable company and this is misleading wording that I think will cause a lot of people to re-register out of fear. Particularly their sort of customer who will have legitimate worries about credit rating as I did.
Also, I am slightly worried myself just in case I did misunderstand the agreement.
Can anyone confirm if they're just being bullies here?
Thanks

You entered a legally binding agreement for a monthly that continues until you contact them to cancel it with appropriate notice.
Sounds like you didnt bother to cancel it as you should have done under the terms and conditions you agreed to.Still rolling rolling rolling......<

OK, well they don't make that clear enough when you sign up, then. Cheers.0

Could be worth complaining still then. They might waive the charges.Still rolling rolling rolling......

You failed to give the required notification while Experian continued to request the money.0
