Can anyone offer any advice please, my husband was driving home from work at tonight and got stopped by the police for having no insurance. We bought the car on 20th September and called the insurance company the same day to swap over the insurance and have paid them (one quote direct) every month since by direct debit. Our phone records show we called them on the 20th, they charged an admin fee to our bank on the 20th and our monthly payment was increased every month after matching what they said. However the police have said it is not showing as insured and have impounded the car and we have to pay £200 to get it back. The insurance company are saying we never switched the policy over and have been paying insurance for the last 4 months on the old car and the admin fee and increased payment are due to us upgrading the old car insurance to fully comp (the day we sold it) help I don't know what to do

Your insurance company will have a recording of your phone conversation, surely you checked your policy documents after your insurance change?0
-
Log a complaint with them including asking for a copy of or transcript of the said call. Escalate to the FOS if you arent happy with their response.0

You should have received a new insurance schedule and Certificate of Insurance for the new vehicle when you informed them of the change of car, did you get them?0

they will sort it if what you say happened was corect, they will have a indemnity policy to cover this type alsoDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0
