Company cheque cashing

Any ideas? I have a cheque made payable to my limited company for £1k, but unfortunately my company account won't let me pay in cheques.

So I need to cash it, would be happy to pay a fee, just don't know where to go?

  • I don't understand.
Does the limited company hold a bank account?
If so why can you not pay the cheque in?

I can't see a cheque cashing shop doing anything for you if in the name of the limited company

Why not open a BANK account with a proper BANK - problem solved.

Otherwise could you not send the cheque back and ask for the money to be sent electronically to whatever account you have?

Yes I am aware of those options, however I would prefer to cash the cheque if it is possible.

It will be a crossed cheque so you can't cash it at a bank. It needs to go through the clearing system.

You might be able to cash it at a pawnbrokers for an extortionate fee.

    It will not be possible.
A pawn broker will insist on ID - they won't have the facility to check out if you have the right to cash a ltd company cheque or know if you have stolen it or not.

    You said card plus.
    Do you mean cash plus?

If so then you can only take in payments via standing order or faster payments, or cash.

You will have to return the cheque and request payment via FP.

At the same time go and get a grown up business account with a bank.
