mira sport shower fault

Hi for the last few months iv had intermittent problems with my mira sport electric shower. It started cycling between hot and cold for no reason and then sometimes working. Recently it has just been warm enough to use but not hot as it should be, and this is on the highest heat setting. I have checked the elements and thermal cut out which all seem to be ok. Could it be the flow valve ? any help would be great thanks

Apart from the cycling between hot and cold, it sounds like the same fault we had on our Mira Escape; the heater tank was faulty. I think there must be two elements in the tank, so if one fails you don't get a high enough temperature on the output.

We had ours repaired under warranty; the service engineer told us the new part is only guaranteed for the remaining length of the original warranty - one month in our case! I'll be taking this up with Mira as I think it's unacceptable - apart from the heater tank, there's [STRIKE]sod all[/STRIKE] hardly anything else to the shower apart from some plumbing and the control dials. Our previous shower failed, for the same reason, at just under six years old - not an encouraging reliability record for a product retailing at £500.

How did you check the above ?

I'm not sure why you paid £500 for it

If you are in a hard water area & have no scale inhibitor fitted to the cold supply pipe or a softner it's no wonder they scale up & fail, it's not the fault of the shower
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

I didn't pay £500 for it, I only said it retails at £500 (according to Mira's own web site); and I live in a soft water area.
  • i have continuity across thermal cut out and checked resistance of elements which are about 15 ohms ???
  • any more ideas on this please ???
