you can't send invoice for this order .. HELP

I have just sold an item, at £25.

I was about to send an invoiced as usual. but a message comes up stating ..

you can't send invoice for this order

The item(s) will be sent using the Global Shipping Programme. As part of the programme, buyer directly pays international postage and import charges to the third-party delivery provider. The buyer will still be able to complete checkout even if you don't send an invoice.
I don't know what this is all about, never heard of the Global Shipping programme.

I had listed the item with only UK shipping showing, but a buyer in Italy has won it.

What do I do now please ?

Should I contact the buyer or something ?

HELP !

From memory you should have received an email from eBay about the GSP.

  • I would just wait for the buyer to pay then send to the UK shipping centre address given. It's less risky than sending direct to Italy, because if it goes missing after the shipping centre receives it then it's their problem not yours.

Agree with this, particularly for Italy which seems to have a chaotic postal service.

You can opt out of the GSP if you wish but you are probably stuck with it for this sale.
  • The GSP is a scheme, where the buyers can buy from anywhere in the world, but the seller only posts to eBay's UK depot, where they send it on. That means you're just as protected as usual, because if anything goes wrong at eBay's depot or beyond, you aren't affected.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I got the usual notification of payment and sent it off .. to the UK address.

    Seems easy enough to me.

I suppose if it increases the number of potential buyers, it'll be a good thing
