Front door quotes - thoughts please!

Hey all,
I was wondering if I could get some thoughts on a couple of quotes we received for a new front door and window which goes above the door. The door is pretty standard size (AFAIK) and the window above it is the same width as the door and pretty much square.
Quote from Everest, for PVC-u is £2400
Quote from Anglian, for composite is £1900
Seems like both are relatively high to be honest. But I know you do pay a bit more for companies like these. Also it's London and I've always thought that prices are a little higher here for things like this.
Any thoughts?

They sound pretty high to me. I had mine done, composite door in the centre, glass panels both sides, £1400
Composite is normally dearer than PVC.
That's in Surrey, from a local company, rather than these horrid nationwide companies who never leave me alone cold calling. I would never use them for that reason alone!0 -
IMO get queries from local suppliers.
For the Everest price you can get the most modern high spec composite doors with sidelight etc. I know cos we just did that.0 -
Got a Rockdoor for £1350 full fitted from a local supplier and it's a beaut0

For a price comparison, look for an online custom door supplier who will build it to spec and ship it to you, then ask a local builder for cost to install. Or DIY!?
Usually also several local upvc companies that also build doors.0 -

Was that with Everest/Anglian, or a local supplier?0 -
We're having an Ultimate Rock Door Kentucky Aquarius with all hardware and foot wide side panel in misted glass for £1530 from a local firm that was recommended to us. Think you have to compare like for like. Not all composite doors are the same it would seem.Rock alone have 3 levels. Yes London seems to be more expensive for most things. Property is in in the mid north.0
