P4Parking Ticket

Options
I got a parking ticket when viewing a flat in edinburgh from p4parking. They say the work on behbehalf of the land owner. Following advice from previous threads on the subject I have ignored the parking fine of £60. As expected I received a letter informing me I now owed £100 and should pay that with in 14 day to avoid further repercussions.
I now have had 2 letters informing me I could be taken to county court (which I don't think we have in Scotland? Correct me if I am wrong). I expected all this and have continued to ignore the letters but today while i was out my householf got a phone call from p4parking saying I had to phone them back with in the next 48 hours.
How did they get my phone number and is it legal for them to harass my house hold like this (the lady was very rude to my dear mother)?

Please advise if I am doing the right thing in ignoring them, should I respond?

Ignoring in Scotland is still the right thing to do. As long as the PPC don't know who was driving the keeper is bomb proof. Do not respond as you may inadvertantly give away who was driving. If you don't speak or write to them you can't do that.

Having got the name and address of the keeper from the DVLA, could the PPC have looked you up in a 'phone directory?

  • Thanks for your quick response. Is there anyway I can get them to stop calling? Anything I can say to them that will deter them?

Do not have any communication with them at all.

    They will lose interest.

And remember it is not a fine
  • Finally, is there a rule of thumb as to how long it will take before they give up? Most posts on the subject never provide a conclusion.

You may get a number of letters but just file them. Nothing they can do to you.

The conclusion is they give up.

Have you contacted the landowner to complain? Don't mention you were driving but complain that you, the keeper, are being harrassed by their agents and they were rude to your Mum. Demand that he gets the ticket cancelled and reprimands the PPC for their behaviour.

Is it possible to bar the calls via your 'phone provider? You can tell them you are receiving abusive nuisance calls and ask them to block them.
Did the person who spoke to your Mum use swear words as that is an offence under the Telecommunications Act?

Will see if the number can be blocked, no abusive language used (yet) will advise her of that.
I hadn't thought of contacting the landowner, not sure how I would find out who that is. Above anything else they got the colour of my car wrong on the ticket, I am sure if gets taken firther I could refuse to pay on that basis.

    It won't.

If they phone again hang up, tell other members of the household to do the same.

It won't get taken any further as long as you do not speak or contact them in any way shape or form.

Do exactly as wiogs has suggested.

Who exactly is calling? Is it really P4Parking, or is it a debt collector? If a DC, which one?
