A £13,500 basic salary.

I've seen this jobe advertised offering the above salary for a 40 hour week. How would one work out this salary in terms of hourly rate? It can't be much over minimum wage. :-(

I make that £6.49 an hour so 1p below the hourly rate of £6.50 for adult minimum wage. Are you under 21?

    £13,500÷52 = £259.62

    £259.62÷40 = £6.49 per hour
  • Could be less contracted hours.

My contracted working hours are 38 a week for "full time" which would change the calculation to above NMW.

Ha! I just checked and it's £13,520 per annum. Normal working hours are 40 per week, plus 30 minutes taken each day unpaid for lunch.

So you're normal working day is 8 hours and 30 minutes with the 30 minutes being unpaid for lunch. After that you go on to an over-time rate.

What was your calculation for that? I ended up with £6.50.

So exactly £6.50 an hour then. Expect a payrise in October when the rate goes up.

Whipee! Should I buy the champagne now that the sales are on? :-)
  • It's all irrelevant whether its one p or not out as long as the basic plus whatever else there is gets you over the £6.5
