I have a flat in London that has a lease that is run by Freehold managers plc.
This year i didn't receive my ground rent and buildings insurance demand from them. A few months past , so i emailed them to see where it was and to pay them.
Freehold Managers had told me that they had now forwarded the account to a solicitors called JB Leitch as i had not paid them, i said i can pay now but they wouldn't deal with me.
I then emailed JB Leitch and asked them to email me a copy of the original invoice to pay, they did that but said there was an additional fee of £340 to pay.
After reading the original invoice I saw that the post code was different to mine.
I emailed them back and their reply was that it makes no difference as it still should of got to me (which it didn't). They still want me to pay inc their fees.
What shall i do now ?

I was persistent in the end that I was not going to pay it and they could take it further . They dropped it in the end and sent me the original invoice to pay ant the correct address this time.0

Hi,
Did you pay the original invoice via the solicitor, or direct to the freeholder?
I have the same problem and am unsure how to proceed.
Thanks.0 -
I paid it direct to the freeholders as they had sent me a new invoice with the correct address on it this time.0

I have had the same issue. my ground rent was £50 a year. apparently they can charge me extra each year even though I have paid the full amount. I received no bill for 2016 as my wife had died and I lived elsewhere. the solicitors in question then sent me an invoice for £596. they said it was acceptable to charge me even though I had paid in full for the two previous years. it wont be happening again as will now be buying the leasehold on my property.0
