Rental property renewal costs???

I am being asked for £125 for the agent to renew my letting agreement - is this not just a letter?

Can I argue against this at all or am i stuck if I want to renew the contract?

I expect you will find that you agreed to these terms when you signed the initial contract.

I don't like it either considering the amount of work involved, but there isn't much you can do except not renew and move out.
