So the UK was able to look after our national interests and our allies call for assistance by degrading the ability of Daesh to fund itself through pumping oil from these fields.

And remote desert oil wells are not "embedded in communities of ordinary citizens".
If the Government are smart (no guarantee about that!) I would expect/hope that the same logic will be applied to all targets of the RAF as, I think, has been the case so far in the IRAQ theatre.Union, not Disunion

It has indeed.
In more than a year of strikes against Daesh targets in Iraq, there have been no reports of civilian casualties resulting from UK air operations.
RAF Tornado and Reaper aircraft have flown a total of 1,632 combat missions and have carried out more than 380 successful strikes with Zero civilian casualties.
Which makes me wonder why the SNP are really objecting?“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

What an appalling statement.
An entire page of political game playing, grievance building, excuses for inaction, blaming Tories, and creating division with not a single constructive suggestion for what action they suggest we should have taken instead.
The sop to the hostage's opinion was especially galling, given that a ransom was paid to Daesh for his release, which will only fund more terror.
The SNP have really been caught on the back foot with this one, while they are clearly appealing to their hard left socialist central belt supporters, they have also deeply offended large numbers of moderate centrist and right of centre voters, not just with the vote itself but also with the crass attempts at political games and using it for party recruitment (Angus Robertson's tweet for example).
They've even managed to offend Tony Benn's family for heavens sake...“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Well of course it's appalling......its from the SNP. I posted in response to questions about what their alternative plans might be.
I can't say I expected any other reply from you but I'm surprised about the hostage comment. What would you have done? Have you watched the video he made? It's interesting to say the least. Don't forget he knows more than most. There's also a Canadian woman who went to fight alongside the Kurds who has a similar view. Is anyone paying attention to them?
The more I read about what's going on in Syria and who is our enemy the more mind boggling this whole conflict is. Is it true that IS are growing despite the amount of air strikes the Americans alone have conducted? Did we support and arm any of these rebels/factions we are now against? It's all just a huge shambles and I still don't think air strikes are the answer although the oil field destruction is one good thing to have happened.0 -

ISIL are being pushed back
the Kurds have retaken territory
paying ransom money kills other people
