It's easy to simply oppose everything in a frenzy of 'TORY-BAD' soundbites.

But part of being the opposition is a duty to propose viable alternatives...

As an SNP supporter what concrete action would you like the government to take against Daesh in order to degrade their capabilities against us and in support of our allies who have requested help?

What's wrong with the two UK air strikes so far that have taken out Daesh controlled oil wells in the middle of the desert?

Should Daesh have been allowed to keep pumping that oil to fund their terror?

I don't know the answer Hamish but I am a little confused as to why, when 9 or 10 other countries are involved and have been for a while now these oil wells weren't already targeted.

I have no military background so I'm no expert but how will air strikes defeat this enemy who appear to have embedded themselves in communities of ordinary citizens? It just does not 'feel' like the best course of action for us to take.

Good for you for following it up :)

Yes the seems to be a problem which I cannot change for some reason. Try copying and pasting the following

Why they weren't is of little consequence, might have been lack of resources, different priorities, any number of reasons.

The point is that Britain targeted and destroyed them.

So the UK was able to look after our national interests and our allies call for assistance by degrading the ability of Daesh to fund itself through pumping oil from these fields.

Given these were oil wells in the middle of the desert what possible objection could you have to the UK taking them out?

And why do you think it reasonable for the UK to expect other nations to target them instead of us doing it ourselves?
I have no military background so I'm no expert but how will air strikes defeat this enemy who appear to have embedded themselves in communities of ordinary citizens? It just does not 'feel' like the best course of action for us to take.

Well as the initial UK strikes have targeted their source of funding, oil wells out in the remote desert, it will help defeat Daesh by restricting their ability to fund terrorist activities.

And remote desert oil wells are not "embedded in communities of ordinary citizens".

So neither of your concerns appear to be justified with the action taken so far.

Therefore I'll ask again, what's wrong with the two UK air strikes so far that have taken out Daesh controlled oil wells in the middle of the desert?

Should Daesh have been allowed to keep pumping that oil to fund their terror?

is it true that the rail bridge was designed by an Englishman

    Yes
and the road bridge by a Scot?

Only partially - 1/3 of Mott, Hay and Anderson was a Scot, the other two were English. Not sure about the other design company involved, Freeman Fox & Partners.

    oh dear
I guess Nicola and Alex can use that as yet another reason why they won't pay their share of the UK debt, when independence arrives.
