I did some work with the ONS ; mainly data crunching. I do know there is a lot of interest in seeing if the housing benefit cap has worked.

I think you will find the picture is changing, but slowly. The divide is not getting bigger due to rent subsidy.

SNP just beat their previous record of 11 mp's. 12 and counting. Unbelievable swings in Scotland.

SNP take every seat so far. Alexander, Curran, Murphy all gone

Highlands reporting to be all SNP wins so Alex once again an MP.

What the rest of the UK needs to think is the root cause of this massive swing. Why have scots deserted the Labour Party in their droves?

This is seismic change here and although I hoped for SNP gains I am overwhelmed at the scale with more to come no doubt.

I don't think you can assume that Scotland voting SNP in a gerneral election mean that the people of Scotland want change as far as independence is concerned. I know many who were happy to vote SNP who will still never vote for independence should there be another referendum.

    Gracious in victory I see.

Looks like a Tory majority which should mix interestingly with the huge SNP win. Who on earth will be Secretary of State for Scotland? Perhaps David Cameron will offer it to Alec Salmond! Ha ha...

Anyway this result looks to pave the way for a federal UK to me. I cannot see just transferring a few more powers over being tenable especially as the Tories have English votes for English laws in their manifesto. Full fiscal autonomy may appear on the table within months.
