The ABC's take on the UK election from this bloke:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Geoff_Gallop
is that the SNP end up supporting Labour on a vote-by-vote basis even if Labour get fewer seats than the Tories.
The whole thing then falls apart after a couple of years and Miliband pulls the MacDonald trick of resigning his Government and forming a new one with the support of the Tories. That lasts a year or so and then Miliband goes to the polls, "as a Statesman rather than as a man that can't even eat a bacon sandwich".
(sorry for the lack of a link, it was on the radio whilst I was in the car).

The Sydney Morning Herald will prolly have a big piece on this in the morning but at the moment are going with that UKIP candidate being an idiot*.
*Apologies to idiots everywhere for equating you with Robert Blay but if I called him what I thought then I'd get PPR'd.0 -
The UKIP imbeciles are out in force on one of the local Facebook pages near me. Not one of them has managed to spell their messages of patriotism correctly.
Some people are having a right go at them. In all honesty they are braver than me because FB isn't especially anonymous and most of them look like thugs.0 -

Oh how it would be great for openness and honesty in politics.
presumably you are as critical of the SNP as anyone else on this point given that the SNP are going around saying they will be able to dictate terms to Labour.0 -

Really? Can you link to an article or video of this please?0 -

Seriously? Salmond has been all over the place saying things to that effect. He was on the Andrew Marr show a couple of months ago suggesting that the SNP could force labour to include SNP demands in their budgets in order to get them through the commons.0 -

Seriously, if what you are saying is true you should be able to prove it. Evidence instead of hysterics & spin as usual would be nice.

Surely this is the crux of the SNP position. They believe they will have enough MP's to be able to influence whatever government is in power to get a better deal for Scotland and to ensure the promises made during the referendum are met.

Sturgeon - November 2014"But I ask you to think about this. Think about how much more we could win for Scotland from a Westminster Labour government if they had to depend on SNP votes."
Ms Sturgeon said Labour would be forced to "deliver real powers for our parliament" as well as rethinking the "endless austerity that impoverishes our children" and thinking again about "putting a new generation of Trident nuclear weapons on the River Clyde."It is a good idea to be alone in a garden at dawn or dark so that all its shy presences may haunt you and possess you in a reverie of suspended thought.

I referred to a specific incident that actually happened which is about as far away from hysterics as you can get (although there was plenty of spin from Salmond). You are presumably able to use the internet as you made it here - although Generali has googled it for you... In addition to talking about changing HS2, Salmond also said in the Marr interview that he would be able to push through progressive spending increases.
Just to be clear are you arguing that the SNP are positioning themselves as a party that will have no influence over a labour government or a party that will be unable to prevent the Tories from getting into power? So when Sturgeon keeps saying you must vote SNP to make Scotland's voice heard at Westminster what do you think she means? What about when she keeps going on about a majority of "anti Tory" MPs. Do you think she is trying to persuade people that they should vote for the SNP because it will have no power or influence?0 -

http://www.thenational.scot/politics/sturgeon-snp-will-give-scots-more-power-and-influence-than-ever-before-at-westminster.2683THE SNP will give Scots “more power and influence at Westminster” than they have ever had before, Nicola Sturgeon will claim today.
http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-31782734On a vote-by-vote basis we could get great gains for Scotland
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/politics/SNP/11501734/Nicola-Sturgeon-The-SNP-will-shake-up-Westminster.htmlWe will demand an alternative to slash and burn austerity.
I think it's reasonable to say that the SNP want to wield influence in Westminster.0
