had me greeting again
Ahh, brought back some memories. Still feels unreal sometimes looking back. An incredible time for Scotland.
David Hayman was a terrific attribute during the referendum. I never did get to see his play, I'll need to look out for it online.0 -
Aye 'twas a guid play, his final speech was great also
Would recommend it0 -

Thank you to Shakes who has put into words an answer better than I can.
Is it not somewhat strange to fight so hard to want to keep such a drain in the union?
It does not add up....
What do you think happens to state finances when one of your biggest sources of tax falls 90%? You aren't convinced because you have your head in the sand. There's none so blind as will not see.0 -

In exactly the same way as Nicola Sturgeon's parents stuck 2 fingers up at the conservatives when they bought their council house under Margaret Thatcher's right to buy scheme and have since made a reported 1700% - not a bad return for your money for members of a family who eschew capitalist philosophies.
Bit too close to Tony Blair's champagne socialism for comfort...MumOf4Quit Date: 20th November 2009, 7pm

Leanne has postulated a scenario whereby an independend Scotland borrows in the early years to cover the income shortfall.
The UK has indeed been in this position in the past, when we had to borrow from the IMF.
Such borrowing usually comes with a swingeing set of do's and don'ts when it comes to your economy. You are no longer in control of matters. Not a great place to be IMO.
Still, looking on the bright side, it would give the SNP a new 'enemy' to blame alongside Westminster.0 -

does that mean you support the sale of council houses and think it is appropriate for SNP politician to buy one
and to vote for such a person?
or do you mean there are special rules for the SNP politicians so they can do no wrong ?0 -

Nicola didn't buy it, her parents did so it's easy to 'vote for such a person'.. And the SNP didn't get into power in Holyrood until 2007. Little they could do about 'right to buy' until then is there ?It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid ?0 -

I think you're rather jumping ahead of yourself a wee bit by assuming that FFA or independence means almost immediately having to go to the IMF for a bailout. It all seems so stupid it makes me want to give up.

So Nicola's parents buying their council home makes Nicola guilty of what exactly?0
