Could a partners credit score be stopping me getting credit?

I am financially linked to my wife and have been for years. I have never been linked to anyone else in that sense.
I was wondering if her credit file could really do that much damage towards me - if i am applying for credit individually.
I should mention i dont have the best credit rating, however all my bills are paid on time and have been for years. On the other hand, she has outstanding payments.
Would this stop me being accepted if i apply for example; a credit card that is only in my name? I cannot see why i have been rejected for a 0% card that i applied for yesterday.
On a side note, my credit file says electoral roll dates: 28/10/2008 to 28/10/2012. - This looks like im not on it? I havent done anything. Do i have to applyto be on it every 4 years or something?
Thanks

yes, if linked, it will affect you, no one can say by how much as each company give credit on different criteria, some may give more weight to her credit report than others.
You can register online, or ring up your Town hall and ask, if you are still registered.0 -

Thanks, i have just emailed them to check and apparently my name was crossed out on the form in Sept 2012..... I have no idea how that has happened.
Also got the wife to register as well so maybe that will sort out the hiccup0
